Weekly Wrap: 3/7

Swans at Centennial Park

  1. When you have a big important meeting first thing on a Monday morning, so you throw an extra pair of stockings in your handbag, just in case you manage to ladder them on the train on the way in – and you give yourself a pat on the back for thinking ahead… only to discover that you’ve managed to chip your nail polish somewhere between home and the train station.
  2. Ronan Keating is touring in November, and you can be sure that I bought tickets when they went on sale this week!
  3. I am okay with the colder weather that has come to town, but I’m not loving the static that comes with it. I have tried everything to fight the static and my stockings – anti-static spray, hairspray, dryer liners. Every winter is the same.
  4. RIP Avila Crepes in Bondi – our favourite creperie.
  5. Offspring returned this week, and while it’s missing a little something (Debra Oswald, maybe?), I still enjoyed it.
  6. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I am too old for drinks on a school night. Farewelled a colleague finishing up in our team this week with a few drinks at our local, and despite an early night, was still feeling a little tired and dusty the next day. The lack of food and absence of water between drinks probably didn’t help.
  7. I am feeling a little more grounded and like I have at least an idea of the direction I’m heading after attending a Kikki K goals workshop this week that a mate booked a small group of us into. I’m also back into the gratitude journalling, and I am feeling more positive already. It’s such a small thing, but it really does help with improving my mindset.
  8. Finally caught Me Before You at the cinema – oh how I cried. I made the rookie mistake of wearing regular mascara instead of the waterproof variety; I should have known better. I am pretty sure the entire cinema were in tears at one point.
  9. I have been missing Niece and Nephew Posy even more than usual this week – I think not being in the Windy City for Niece Posy’s recent birthday had something to do with it – so we booked flights down to see them next month. Let the countdown begin!
  10. Meanwhile, we’re heading to the snow later this month, and I’ve been doing a lot of research for our trip. I’ve ordered thermals (snapped up a couple of pairs each in the Kathmandu sale thanks to a hot tip from Sydney Shop Girl), and I’m definitely booking us in for a ski lesson, but I’m trying to work out what else I need to pack and where to hire the cutest ski gear… Because I’m sure that half the battle on the slopes is looking on trend, ha!
  11. I am feeling very rested after a fairly relaxing weekend – it was nice not to have anything booked in for a change. Mr Posy and I took advantage of the glorious weather and took PosyDog on a couple of nice big walks, including to our local park to check out the swans and the brand new cygnets (pictured).
  12. How fortunate are we to live in a country where we can vote without fear of persecution or death.. You can bet that I numbered those boxes correctly and made my vote count (and grabbed a democracy sausage on my way out) when we headed to the polls yesterday. Even PosyDog came along (and waited patiently in line with us) for a lesson in democracy. I have never gotten into politics on this blog, and I’m not going to start now, but I am shaking my head over some of the seats in the Senate. Interesting days ahead, as we wait to hear the final results of yesterday’s election.
  13. Wow, I certainly had a lot to say this week…
